Help, FAQs, and getting in touch
Stow is a privacy-first envelope budgeting app for iPhone. All your budget data stays on your device — no accounts, no bank linking, no servers. Below are answers to common questions. If you can't find what you need, email us and we'll get back to you within two business days.
Stow is an envelope budgeting app for iPhone. You divide your money into labelled "envelopes" — like Groceries, Rent, or Fun — and track spending against each one. Stow is designed to be private: your budget data never leaves your device.
After you finish onboarding, tap the + button on your dashboard. Give the envelope a name, allocate an amount, choose an icon and colour, and save. Free users can create up to 5 envelopes.
At the start of each period (usually a month), you divide your income into envelopes for different spending categories. As you spend, you log transactions against the relevant envelope. When an envelope runs out, that category is done for the period — which makes it easy to see where your money is going and stay on budget.
All your budget data — envelopes, transactions, amounts — is stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing about your spending is uploaded to any server. Stow has no account system, and you don't need to sign up to use it.
Not in the current version. Each iPhone keeps its own Stow data. Cross-device sync is something we're exploring for a future update.
Because Stow stores data on-device, uninstalling the app or losing your device will remove your budget data. Premium users can export their data to a CSV file (Settings → Export) to keep their own backups.
Yes. All core budgeting features work fully offline. The app only makes a network request for subscription-related operations such as purchases and restores.
Premium unlocks unlimited envelopes, spending reports, CSV export, home-screen widgets, and custom colour themes. Free users keep all core budgeting features and up to 5 envelopes, forever.
Tap any locked feature inside the app, or go to Settings → Upgrade. You'll see the available plans there.
On the new device, open Stow and go to Settings → Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the original purchase, your Premium access will be restored. Note: this restores your subscription only — it does not transfer your budget data.
Subscription cancellation is handled through iOS, not inside Stow. Open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Stow → Cancel Subscription. Your Premium access remains active until the end of the current billing period.
First, try Settings → Restore Purchases inside Stow. If that doesn't resolve it, email us with your Apple receipt (you can find it in your Apple ID purchase history) and we'll look into it right away.
Sorry about that. Email us with a description of what happened, what you expected to happen, and your iPhone model and iOS version. Screenshots help a lot.
We'd love to hear it. Send it to the support email below — we read everything.
